This mod adds the new "Chute" block, which work just like Minecraft hoppers! They have 1 input above them and 2 outputs--one where they're pointing and one below. Chutes will take items out of the above container (or pick up items dropped right on top of them) and first try to send them to the container they're pointing at, and if they don't find a valid slot then they will try to send the item to the container below. Crafted with a Funnel plus almost any block (they have the exact same stats as Funnels)
